Most people have an aversion to heights – it’s perfectly natural to worry about falling from a height as it can cause serious harm and injury.
Your employer may instruct you to undertake a task that requires you to work at a certain height and it’s likely that there is no alternative in order to get the work done. However, your employer must ensure reasonable steps are taken to reduce the risk of a fall.
Many of our clients who have suffered injury as a result of a fall from a height have done so because:-
The height was high enough that a fall was likely to cause injury
Their employers failed to risk assess the task to determine the hazard and how to reduce the likelihood of an injury
Steps were not taken to reduce the risk (such as providing adequate safety equipment)
